Before even beginning on your weight loss journey, you need to understand your thought processes and which negative aspects of your behavior that you need to get rid of so that you are able to change your mindset and have a positive attitude before you can change your body.
Below are some of my thoughts which (hopefully) may be able to guide you into growing and having a positive attitude towards a healthier lifestyle and being the best version of yourself.
NO excuses. We often procrastinate or delay ourselves from doing things that are beneficial to us because we do not really understand or see the urgency in the goodness/value of that particular action.
What is stopping you? Sick and tired of feeling unfit yet do not have the motivation to do something about it? We so often find excuses, creating a false sense of reassurance amongst ourselves that our problem isn’t that serious when in reality, it is. This is not a healthy way of living and the longer we lie to ourselves, the heavier the burden of the problem becomes. Take the first step and find out what is stopping you from becoming the better version of yourself today and take appropriate actions to eliminate the obstacle.
Setting priorities. Everyone pursues different desires and while it is true that there are no right or wrong opinions, it is only human to value some things over others and thus it is also essential to remember to set your health as one of your biggest priorities in life. With that, having a healthier lifestyle would not even be considered as a challenge!
Overcoming your fears. What is it about weight gain that bothers you? Why are you trying to lose weight in the first place? Most of us, including myself before, tend to ignore and pretend that gaining weight by living unhealthily did not matter. However, we need to be aware that losing weight is not entirely to just look good (but you will look good!) but to also prevent health risks and illnesses. When my (then 42-year-old) husband had a heart attack a couple of years ago, my fear of having heart risks was one key reason my mindset and behavior can be so strong and determined.
With love,
